TONBRIDGE TECH FIRM TEES UP GLENEAGLES CONTRACT
Tonbridge-based SAS UK has won a contract to
install, maintain and support new technology at the
world renowned Gleneagles hotel to give its guests easy
access to a high speed internet connection.
SAS UK has won a contract to install, maintain and
support new technology at the world renowned Gleneagles
hotel to give its guests easy access to a high speed
internet connection.
SAS UK, the internet and network security specialists,
installed new technology at Gleneagles on a trial basis
at the end of last year. As a result guests now have
much quicker, automated access to the internet as soon
as they plug their laptops into a connection in their
rooms.
The new hotspot
gateway installed by SAS also makes Gleneagles ‘wireless
ready’ and able to benefit from new potential
revenue streams derived from business customers with
an increasing demand for truly mobile access to their
own company networks through the internet.
Gordon Mair of IBM Global Services, which looks
after IT at Gleneagles, comments:

Installation of a secure, flexible, network currently
gives hotels the opportunity to generate new income
streams through selling wireless access to their business
customer base. There may, however, be a limited window
of opportunity in which to capitalise on WiFi, before
this currently new technology becomes accepted as just
another ‘must have’ add-on.
The Aptilo
APC Hotspot Gateway installed by SAS UK at Gleneagles
also allows the network to work with a state-of-the-art
billing system which automatically charges internet
access to a guest’s hotel bill.
