IntY Managed Application Server

For any business these days, the cost of maintaining IT systems at a high and up-to-date level can be prohibitive. Constant upgrading and the inevitable server downtime associated with rolling out new software/hardware means that there’s hardly ever a time when some part of your IT system is not being worked on.

The IntY Managed Application Server (MAS) has been developed to allow businesses to derive constant benefit from the latest incarnation of one our most commonly used software packages – Microsoft Office. MAS is based on the latest Microsoft server software and delivers the latest Microsoft Office applications in one box – so your organisation will remain competitive with a minimum of hassle.

Using Microsoft Terminal Services, MAS is able to deliver new Microsoft programs even to old and ageing PCs and Apple Macs, so large amounts of capital are no longer needed to upgrade your computer hardware. Any additional workstations that may be needed can be based on further inexpensive machines incorporating 'thin-client' technology.

Since the MAS is powerful enough to handle all the application execution, processing and data storage procedures associated with new software on its own, all that is required of the client devices is to manage display updates and relay mouse clicks and keystroke inputs. And it is because of this fact, that they do not have to be capable of processing the newer and more sophisticated Windows-based applications locally (to access and use the applications), that great hardware savings can be made.

The cost of supporting a MAS is dramatically lower compared with what would be the case for a traditional network.. Because the software is run centrally, issues and problems with individual PCs can be resolved remotely.

In fact, such a system can be administered from anywhere, anytime. So even if the System Administrator is not on site, desktops can still be remotely managed. In addition, issues of data security and reliability can be handled with increased ease and efficiency, since all applications are run from one server.

Remote users, too, can benefit from a MAS architecture. Accessing, for instance, databases which are held centrally is made a great deal easier when large chunks of data do not need to be moved across the connection. This speeds up user access and in turn enhances overall productivity.

Key features

  • Out-of-the-box usability: the MAS is ready to use with minimal installation and run-in time from the point of delivery.
  • Backup support: intY engineers are easily contactable by phone to help with fault-finding and to rectify system issues.
  • Remote administration: the nature of the MAS infrastructure means intY engineers are able to assume control of the MAS remotely to ensure its smooth running.
  • Next day hardware swap-out: in the unlikely event of MAS malfunction intY is committed to delivering a replacement unit within 24 hrs.
  • Disaster recovery procedures: MAS incorporates an in-built recovery option allowing you to recover the system to a default status.
  • Data back-up: MAS includes a re-writeable DVD drive with a back-up capacity of 4.8 GB on one disc, providing an affordable back-up mechanism.
